Display solution vendor ViewSonic has tapped a Calgary company to add some value to its new virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) client.
ViewSonic has launched the SC-U25 Value VDI Client with the Userful Multiplatform Software from Calgary-based virtualization vendor Userful Corp. It’s a plug-and-play LAN client that supports Gigabit Ethernet-based installation and ViewSonic says it’s a good fit for the education sector, small businesses, call centres, and hotel business centres. It supports a mix of virtualized desktops including Microsoft Windows, Chrome-style sessions and included pre-configured Linux, digital signage and cloud desktops.
“By introducing the SC-U25 Value VDI Client, ViewSonic has developed the ideal value VDI solution that is simple and cost-effective to deploy,” said Mike Holstein, vice-president of business development and emerging technologies for ViewSonic Americas, in a statement. “The SC-U25 Value VDI Client offers functional yet high-end key features needed to set up VDI environments, especially for education organizations and SMBs that want to upgrade but have not due to budget constraints and management expertise. By working with Userful to bundle their Multiplatform software, all the tools for deploying, operating and managing a virtual desktop environment are provided in one simple solution.”
The Userful Multiplatform integration adds functionality such as N+1 redundancy, which allows IT to assign all deployed SC-U25 clients to corresponding host servers and redundant failover severs.
“The SC-U25 value client bundle is ideal to transition organizations into a virtual desktop infrastructure, providing industry leading cost, simplicity, and platform flexibility,” said Tim Griffin, chief technical officer at Userful Corp., in a statement. “With over one million seats deployed, Userful is a proven solution that streamlines and manages deployments – simply and trouble-free.”
The ViewSonic SC-U25 Value VDI Client will be available in December starting at US$199.00.
