“MSI has just announced plans to debut many new laptops at the trade show next month. Not exactly earth shattering news, but it’s still nice to have something to look forward to. The best of the bunch is the GT680, already being touted by MSI as the ‘fastest notebook on the planet’ with MSI’s Turbo Drive Engine+ technology. We’ll have to wait and see if that is truly the case, but it should be exciting to see soon.”
Global mobile app market to hit $35 billion in 2014, says IDC

Larry Dignan recaps IDC’s mobile applications forecast over the next few years.
“International Data Corp. projects that the number of mobile apps downloaded worldwide will grow from 10.9 billion in 2010 to 76.9 billion in 2014. That growth will equate to $35 billion in revenue in 2014. In its forecast, IDC said that mobile apps are moving from phones to tablets to TVs and other devices in the home.”

Christina Warren provides some perspective about the tablet market, according to research firm, eMarketer.
“The burgeoning tablet market – buoyed by the iPad – really started to take shape in 2010. According to a new report from eMarketer, tablet sales are expected to increase more than 400 per cent by 2012. EMarketer estimates that more than 81.3M tablets will be sold in 2012, up from the estimated 15.7M units sold worldwide in 2010. Much of that growth, like the entire tablet boom, is expected to be fueled by the iPad.”
