Over at The VAR Guy, the latest rumblings around several possible acqusitions by major players in the data centre are aggregated and analyzed:
”Will Citrix Systems (NASDAQ: CTXS) buy Nutanix — setting up a data center storage war with EMC and VMware? That’s the latest virtualization acquisition rumor. The Citrix-Nutanix chatter follows VMware’s Nicira buyout, Oracle’s Xsigo purchase, and Cisco Systems’ investment in Insieme.”

Such an acquisition could lead to a data centre storage war with EMC and VMware, but The VAR Guy is doubtful the deal will happen. Citrix is primarily a software company while Nutanix takes a hardware approach. Time will tell.
