You can now get download and play World of Goo on your iPhone.
The app, which costs 59p ($0.99 in the US) for the standard iPhone and iPod touch version, also comes in an HD version costing £2.99 ($4.99), compatible with the iPad, the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 as well as the iPod touch third-generation and upwards.
World of Goo is a puzzle game where you have to build large structures using balls of goo. You must transport a certain quantity of goo to a pipe to complete each level, overcoming physical obstacles on the way.
The Mac OS version of the game was released in late 2008 and hit the iPad early this year. It is also available on Windows and Linux. However, the developers, 2D Boy, had wanted to get the game onto iOS much earlier.
“We attempted, and failed, to bring World of Goo to iPhone in the summer of 2009. Development was sporadic and slow as we worked with a series of four different contractors who, for various reasons, did not bring the project to completion. So we dropped it,” the company wrote on its blog in February this year.
The game has won a number of awards and is MetaCritic’s highest ranked iOS game of all time.
