NEW YORK CITY – No more fumbling to remember your password to release your print job – there’s now an app for that.
Hewlett-Packard Co. today launched two new enterprise printers along with new security technology that lets a user tap their near field communications-enabled (NFC) device to authenticate themselves and release their print jobs.
The two new printers are the HP Colour LaserJet Enterprise MFP M680 series and the HP Colour LaserJet Enterprise MFP M651 series, both of which enable HP’s new NFC touch to authenticate, touch to print and wireless direct mobile printing options.
The M650 reaches print speeds of up to 45ppm, with single-pass two-sided scanning and scan to SharePoint capabilities. Users can print, copy, scan, fax and access the cloud from the 8” touch panel, and HP’s flow bundle is available for users with a need for faster simples and duplex scanning needs. It will be available on Apr. 1, with options starting between US$3,649 and US$5,899.
The M651 is the single function printer version of the M680. It also offers print speeds of up to 45ppm, and features built-on acoustic noise reduction technology to help keep the office a little quieter. It also launches Apr. 1, with pricing options from US$1,349 to US$2,999.
Also new from HP are two new software solutions to power these new security features. HP Access Control 14.0 enables NFC capabilities, and HP ePrint Enterprise 3.2 offers productivity improvements and integrates with MobileIron’s AppConnect ecosystem.
IT World Canada recently got a preview of the new printers at an HP press event in New York City, and takes a closer look in this video report.
