Lindo, Utah-based AccessData Group, a vendor of digital forensics, cyber security and e-discovery software, will be visiting Toronto this October as part of worldwide roadshow to unveil its CIRT 2.0 (Cyber Intelligence & Response Technology) tool.
CIRT 2.0 is a platform that allows users to detect both known and unknown threats throughout the enterprise. The CIRT 2.0 tool can integrate network forensics, computer forensics, large-scale data auditing, malware analysis and remediation capabilities in a single product.
According to AccessData, the need for data protection and proactive monitoring exists for Canadian public and private sector organizations as well as companies throughout the globe. For example, in July of 2009, Toronto Hydro’s data was breached, with 179,000 customer accounts were accessed through the company’s e-billing system. The breach was part of a scheme where the thieves would then contact these customers in order to obtain more personal information that could be used for financial fraud. This incident prompted more calls for tighter rules and possible penalties for data breaches in the future.
Jason Mical, director of network forensics at AccessData, said CIRT 2.0 is an advanced cyber security platform that features continuous monitoring, built-in batch remediation, and advanced malware disassembly analysis that does require any signature-based tools.
