Acer will be announcing details on its first ultrabooks and tablets running Windows 8 this week.
These new ultrabooks and tablet from Acer will be made available through the channel in the Canadian and U.S. marketplaces. In previous CDN reports, the Acer Windows 8 ultrabooks will have a hybrid design.
Microsoft has indicated that the launch event for Windows 8 will be in New York City on Oct. 25.
Acer has been currently offering free Windows 8 updates for all ultrabook sold before this launch. The Acer ultrabooks have been priced at just under $700. One of the more interesting features of the Acer Aspire S5 ultrabook is the MagicFlip I/O Port that pops out to reveal hidden ports, such as USB 3.0, HDMI and Thunderbolt at the touch of a button.
The last Acer notebook released in Canada was the TravelMate P243 this past August. The TravelMate P243 caters to the business market with Intel’s Ivy Bridge Core i5 processors, 4 GB of memory, and a 14-inch backlit LED screen.
The last tablet product released by Acer in Canada was the Iconia Tab A700. This tablet runs on Android 4.0 and is powerd by a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor. The LED display is backlit and has a 16:10 aspect ratio. The Iconia Tab has a 10.1-inch screen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution.
Acer also this year entered the thin client marketplace.
