A couple of weeks ago I received some news from SoftChoice Corp. of Toronto stating that it reached more than $1 billion in revenue. This is quite an achievement for the old-time software reseller that has transformed itself into a global player.
I congratulate them. Dave MacDonald and his team have been working for years to achieve this lofty goal. But the press release surprised me because of its timing. CDN has commissioned Evans Research Corp. of Toronto to determine the top 100 Canadian solution providers by revenue as well as the top 25 system builders in the country.
NexInnovations is Canada’s only other billion-dollar solution provider.
More than 250 people packed the Schmooze Club in Toronto the last time CDN revealed its Top 100 Solution Providers to see NexInnovations walk away with the top prize. This year’s event should be equally exciting for the IT industry given that NexInnovations has some competition.
And, I am sure that companies such as Xwave Solutions, Compugen and Microage will also challenge for top spot.
We shall see at the April 20 event at the Liberty Grand in Toronto if NexInnovations is unseated.
The event will begin with an invitation-only educational session for senior channel executives hosted by Kevin McGrath, CEO of Intuition Consulting. McGrath will give an overview on partner profitability and the drivers of return on investment in his presentation.
That will be followed by the awards ceremony and evening festivities, to which all members on the list will be invited.
If you’re an IT solution provider you need to be on this list. To make sure you are visit www.itbusiness.ca/Top100 for more details.
Whichever worthy company wins, the Top 100 Solution Provider program is for everyone. I cannot count how many of the bottom 20 of the list have thanked me for ranking them. The certificate they receive from CDN is truly valuable to them.
They promote it, they place it prominently on their Web site and, more importantly, they tell their customers about it.
It is similar to a honour roll or a stamp of approval from their peers that these 100 companies and 25 system builders have achieved success in the channel.
Look for the April 28 issue of the magazine, where we will profile the fastest-rising company and the most outstanding newcomer to this list.
In addition there will be informative interviews with the leading solution providers.
