It takes a lot to stand out in a market where every tech company nowadays boasts security capabilities, but this year’s CDN Top 100 Security Provider of the Year has done just that.
Herjavec Group is the winner of the Security Provider Award for the second straight year at CDN’s annual Top 100 Solution Provider gala, held in Toronto on Apr. 25. The company has firmly established itself as one of the go-to players of the security services market in Canada, according to IDC Canada, which evaluated the Top 100 and chose winners based on its assessments.
Herjavec Group has wide expertise in multiple technologies and a team approach to cyber services that includes consulting, identity, and managed security services.
“Our entire team is thrilled to be recognized for the advancements of our overall cybersecurity practice,” Erin McLean, senior vice president of marketing and customer success, tells CDN. “We’ve put a lot of emphasis in terms of growing and adapting new services over the last couple of years and most noteworthy would probably be the introduction of our identity offering, as well as our identity managed service. So, just to see that recognized by the industry in Canada is really, really important to us, and we really appreciate it.”
This year, the company wanted to tackle the perceived “gap” in its identity solutions portfolio. The team, led by vice president of identity and access management Ketan Kapadia, developed a full suite of services around identity, assessment, governance and compliance, architecture and installation, as well as a managed service, according to McLean.
“Within our identity practice, we’re now able to support end-to-end identity services from all of those areas, and in particular, the managed service has really been a complement to our existing managed service practice,” she explains. “We’re doing 24/7 identity platform monitoring, we’re helping our customers with automated user provisioning, plus a lot of ticketing support and rule configuration. We’re finding, of course, that the more integrated solutions can be, the better information and data enrichment we’re able to offer our customers.”
Herjavec Group was founded by well-known Canadian TV personality Robert Herjavec in 2003 and has since grown from just three people doing $400,000 in sales in its first year to roughly 300 people doing $200 million in sales in 2015. It is one of Canada’s fastest-growing technology sales and the country’s largest IT security provider, according to the Branham Group, and it isn’t planning on stepping down any time soon.
“We’ve led so many security conversations for over a decade and we’ve grown with so many of our customers. But we can’t rest on our laurels; we have to continue to innovate and bring new technology to market,” McLean says. “From our standpoint, it’s not only about the products; in fact, the services side of our business and how we’re accelerating those services for our customers is the most important thing to us and we’re going to continue to be laser focused on that.”
Herjavec Group thrives in a complex multi-technology environment, McLean adds, pointing out that the company is a “one-stop cybersecurity shop” that plans on furthering its expansion into the US and new regions, and bringing on new talent in the near future.
The company also does its best to share best practices and keep cybersecurity as a priority on the corporate agenda. In an effort to raise awareness of the cybersecurity challenges impacting companies globally, founder Herjavec rang the bell to open the New York Stock Exchange in January 2017 and February 2018.
