CDN has learned that Wendy Lucas has left from Dimension Data Canada.
Lucas was instrumental in established Dimension Data’s presence in the Canadian marketplace back in 2007.
Lucas did return a call placed by CDN for comment. She said that her eight plus years at Dimension Data was a “great ride.” She added that she was thankful for being part of a company that contributing many things to the community and developed innovation solutions that impacted life.
For the short term Lucas plans to take some time out to enjoy her passions such as cycling and skiing. After that Lucas told CDN she see what’s out there career-wise.
A source close to the situation told CDN that Lucas plans on doing something else with her career possibly consulting.
She was a regular on the CDN Top 25 Newsmakers list reaching No. 4 in 2007 and on the CDN Top Women in the Channel list being a first year honouree back in 2010.
Lucas was promoted to country manager late in 2014. Dimension Data Canada ranked No. 22 on last year’s CDN Top 100 Solution Providers Rankings up from 24 with revenues between $75 to $100 million. Dimension Data Canada initially started on the list at $25 to $30 million.
Lucas was Dimension Data’s first Canadian employee and prior to starting the IT services and solution provider in Canada, Lucas was the senior vice-president of sales and integrated solutions at the now defunct NexInnovations.
She first began working in the IT industry as a sales rep at Hamilton Computer Sales and Rental.
Lucas told CDN in a previous interview that her business mandate is to “make sure we get the right people in the business and to make sure that everyone continues to grow by utilizing education and resources (at work). It’s also important to make sure we’re in front of the clients and are working with them on a daily basis,” she added.
Lucas also spearheaded the launch of Dimension Data’s Toronto data centre, which is part of a global roll out of 12 Managed Cloud Platform facilities for the solution provider.
