Cisco Systems CEO Chuck Robbins has announced leadership changes at the company, which will expand the role of its security unit lead and shuffle three other executives.
In an internal memo, Robbins said that David Goeckeler, senior vice president and general manager of the company’s security business group, will now also oversee the company’s networking hardware business. He has led the unit since October 2012.
Meanwhile, senior vice presidents Mario Mazzola, Prem Jain and Luca Cafiero, three engineers that have created startups that Cisco has both funded and bought for $2.38 billion over the past 20 years (in a process known as a spin-in) are now advisers to the company.
Until now, they and Soni Jiandani had been in charge of Insieme Networks, the fourth such spin-in startup. Jiandani remains senior vice president of the startup.
Robbins previously announced major leadership changes last summer shortly after his appointment to the chief executive position.
