Cisco invests in smart grid networking player

Heather Clancy writes that Cisco has invested some money into a company called GridNet.
“Cisco has invested an undisclosed amount in one of the smart grid network infrastructure players, GridNet. The company plans to use the money to ‘accelerate cooperative’ efforts around product development and regulatory smart grid initiatives, among other things. Other key GridNet partners include General Electric, Motorola, Intel and Clearwire (the WiMAX player).”
Microsoft’s spring fling: A new Bing refresh is coming

Mary Jo Foley writes about Microsoft’s new refresh of its Bing search engine.
“Microsoft is starting its rollout of its spring Bing refresh on March 25, which will include a number of user interface changes to the company’s search engine. About five per cent of U.S. customers, as of today, will see the Spring refresh changes, with the rest of the U.S. seeing them in the coming weeks as part of a gradual rollout. These changes may or may not come to international Bing users, Microsoft officials said, as the company maintains different, localized versions of Bing across the world.”
Apple releases Pro Applications Update 2010-01

Jim Dalrymple writes that Apple has just released a new pro applications update on Wednesday.
“The update (targets Final Cut Studio users) includes Final Cut Pro 7.0.2, Motion 4.0.2, Color 1.5.2, Compressor 3.5.2, and Cinema Tools 4.5.1. According to notes provided with the update, the new versions of the applications improve ‘overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues.’ The 321.1MB update can be downloaded from Apple’s Web site.”
