Noted storage distributor Bell Microproducts, out of San Jose, Calif., has reached a significant milestone in its business. Since 1988, when the company started they have been providing hard drives to the solution provider community in Canada and the U.S.
Yesterday, the company announced that it has shipped its 100 millionth hard disk drive.
Bell Micro’s president and CEO, Don Bell, said it was strong customer relationships that was the key to reaching this milestone. “Our customers are the key to our success, and the fact that they have purchased over 100 million HDDs from us over the years is a testament to their high confidence level in Bell Micro — and our ability to meet their needs. Achieving this milestone has truly been a global team effort — we have earned our strong market position through consistent execution over time,” he said in a prepared statement.
Bell Micro vendor partners include Hitachi, Samsung, Seagate, Toshiba and Western Digital.
At Avnet, the distributor is doing something I wish we could get here. This week Avnet announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Power Integrations, a high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient power conversion company. Power Integrations does business Europe it complements the already extensive Avnet Abacus portfolio (Emerson, Murata Power Solutions, Ericsson, Lineage and Power-One) of power modules, as well as its passive components for power supply applications.
By adding one of the world’s leading range of power conversion ICs to its selection of power conversion modules, customers in Europe will turn to Avnet for power, voltage and space constraints products, advice and service. Power savings is something that customer are increasingly looking for today. Solution providers need to meet this demand, but are left will poor choices or no choices so far.
