Saying that many of the smartwatches that have already hit the market recently are primarily designed for men, California-based Smart & Cool is aiming to change that with new model designed specifically for women.
The company has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to bring its “First Women’s designer quartz Bluetooth smartwatch” to market.
The company’s CEO and founder, William Houchin, said while the majority of his customers are women, the majority of smartwatches cater to men. Most smartwatches on the market focus on sporty appearance and tech featured, while he says most women prefer simple smart and fashionably cool.
The Smart & Cool offering is described as a notification smartwatch that uses Bluetooth connectivity for incoming calls, messages and reminders. It features a Quartz internal movement, a vibrating motor, and an OLED display using Bluetooth 1.2.1 with 120 hours of battery life. It uses an automatic energy saving mode with 120 hours of battery life and it takes about 3 hours to recharge.
The watch is expected to retail for $179, but crowdfunding participants can choose between snow, turquoise and violet models for $89. A series of more premium $299 models are available for a $139 pledge.
