Getting ready for schools to start in a few weeks? How about a smartphone for just that.
Alcatel has released the Alcatel A50, complete with SNAPBAK accessories for all sorts of customization. For now the smartphone is available exclusively through Telus across Canada, or at Koodo Mobile, which is a Telus subsidiary.
The Alcatel A50 is packed with enough power to handle anything a student, or teacher, would need. It uses Android 7.0, and is equipped with a Cortex-A53 quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM. It supports up to 128 GB in hard drive space.
The display is 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1280 x 720p. It uses Dragontrail glass and 2D Touch technology. The smartphone’s battery size 2,800 mAh, which should be enough to last for the entire school day and more.
Camera-wise, the A50 has an 8MP rear camera with dual-tone flash and a 2MP front-facing camera. Photography features include color filters, time-lapse, instant-collage, and more.
Alcatel’s real selling point is combining the A50 with the SNAPBAK accessories. This centers around a Color Catcher app that uses the A50’s camera to focus in on color elements to create a color-coordinated phone theme.
There are also various covers that can be used with the A50. This includes the likes of an LED light show phone cover that can flash various colors as the A50 receives calls, messages, e-mails, etc., and a case that is designed to extend the battery life to up to 22 hours of talk time, 80 hours of music playback, and 10 hours of video playback, according to Alcatel.
The Alcatel A50 released today and is available through Telus and Koodo Mobile for $240 CAD.
