Channel veteran Frank Vitagliano has joined Dell Computer as its vice president of channel sales.
Vitagliano will be reporting to Greg Davis, the company’s channel chief and former GM of Dell Canada. Vitagliano will be responsible for small and medium VAR channel accounts and tier two distribution partners. He will also be driving Dell’s growth and development strategy for small and mid-market accounts in Canada and the U.S.
Davis said that Vitagliano’s years of experience and outstanding relationships within the channel community will be a great asset to Dell and further demonstrates commitment to the channel business.
Vitagliano spend the last six year’s at Juniper Networks, where he served as senior vice president of Americas partner sales. Vitagliano worked at IBM for 33 years prior to his tenure at Juniper. In 1994 he was named director of channel marketing for the IBM PC company and held that position until 1996 when he was named vice president of worldwide fulfillment operations. In 2000 Vitagliano was promoted to vice president of distribution channels management and in 2003 was named as the vice president of worldwide distribution channels for the IBM Global Business Partner Organization.
In other Dell channel news Jim Defoe will be tasked to lead the strategy and the team focused on large VARs, DMRs and Global Systems Integrators in North America.
Defoe has held a variety of executive leadership roles during his 15 year tenure at Dell. Prior to joining the channel team, he served as vice president of the healthcare and life sciences organization, responsible for sales in the U.S. Before joining Dell, Defoe managed regional offices in Denver and Salt Lake City for CompuCom Systems.
