NEW YORK – Times Square is known to many New Yorkers and the place where art meets commerce. It’s also the busiest intersection in the world with more than 360,000 people strolling by on a daily basis.
Times Square served as the place where Epson held its Swimming In Ink event to bring more awareness to its EcoTank printing system. Epson invited the U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Team to perform a series of high-energy synchronized swim routines in a massive, see-through tank of cyan, magenta, and yellow “ink.”
According to Epson, the tank at 17,000-gallon is one of the largest ever constructed in Times Square. The printing and imaging vendor used this tank to showcase a new line of EcoTank printers that come pre-loaded with up to two years of ink.
Epson channel partner in the Swimming In Ink event was retailer Staples. Staples was on hand to provide “Print All you Want” days on Epson EcoTank printers in 16 stores across the New York Metropolitan Area.
Keith Kratzberg, executive vice president, Epson America, said the Swimming In Ink event is meant to herald their arrival at Staples and other national retail and online stores with the biggest splash possible. “We think the multi-colored, 17,000-gallon swim tank, combined with the precision and performance of USA Synchro, is a perfect representation of our new printing technology,” he said.
During the performances, the U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Team wore original swimsuits designed for Swimming In Ink by Triflare, the official competition apparel sponsor of USA Synchro. The Triflare original designs were printed using Epson SureColor F-Series dye-sublimation printing technology.
