Peter Stavropoulos, president of Richmond Hill, Ont.-based solution provider FlexITy Inc., could be Ontario’s entrepreneur of the year.
The awards are run by Ernst & Young, and the finalists were announced Thursday. Stavropoulos is a nominee in the business services category, where he’s up against executives from DMC Mining Services, iFinance Canada and TES The Employment Solution. There are a range of other categories as well, from business to consumer products to food and beverage.
“Our Entrepreneur Of The Year finalists are helping lay the foundation for a better working world,” said Colleen McMorrow, National and Ontario Entrepreneur Of The Year program director for E&Y, in a statement. “In Ontario and across Canada, their contributions go well beyond the bottom line — they’re job creators.”
The Ontario winners will be announced at a gala on Oct. 24, and the overall winner will represent the province at the national gala on Nov. 27.
FlexITy held the No. 13 spot for 2012 on CDN’s Top 100 Solution Providers list, with revenue in the $125 million to $150 million range. It provides voice, data, and converged and managed services to businesses across Canada.
