Jere Brown, the long time CEO of Dimension Data Americas announced his retirement from the company today.
Here will be staying on as CEO of the nearly $6 billion solution provider until the end of this year. His replacement will be company COO Mark Slaga, a 13-year veteran of the company.
Also getting promoted is Scott Macafee who gets Slaga’s old job as COO.
Brown is a high profile and very accomplished CEO in in the channel. He led the charge to expand Dimension Data outside of the U.S. and into countries such as Canada along with Mexico, Brazil and Chile.
He also instituted the high performance culture approach at Dimension Data which dramatically improved the company’s sales, profitability, and cash flow.
Under Brown’s leadership, Dimension Data Americas won countless awards including Cisco’s Unified Communications Partner of the Year, Cisco’s Outstanding Performance Enterprise Partner of the Year and CDN’s Top 100 Newcomer of the Year.
Previous to Dimension Data, the Villanova alum worked at IT services firm DecisionOne Corp., where he was vice president of North American sales. While at DecisionOne, Brown flexed his entrepreneurial muscles to develop the opportunity and account management system, which measured sales effectiveness. This resulted in improved Win/Loss ratios and revenue growth within the sales pipeline.
“Jere’s strong leadership and vast contributions during the last 10 years have been instrumental in growing and transforming the Americas business and have set the stage for continued success in the Americas,” said Brett Dawson, CEO of Dimension Data Group.
Brown’s replacement Slaga will be responsible for the strategic leadership of Dimension Data in the Americas region and has a goal to triple revenue in the Americas over the next five years. Slaga has operational, business, sales and technical experience and during his tenure as COO he managed all operations across North and South America, including professional services, consulting, managed services, IT outsourcing and vendor alliances. He has also served as SVP of operations, SVP of solutions, CIO and CTO for Dimension Data Americas.
Dawson added, Slaga’s proven track record of strategic leadership, successful execution, high performance and team building made him the obvious choice to take up the reins from Brown. He and the Americas team will play a critical role in helping us deliver on the Group’s global growth and revenue goals.
As for Macfee, he served on the Americas operating committee for the past three years.
Since joining Dimension Data in 1999, Macfee has lead organizational transformation at the company. For the past year, he was Brazil’s country manager, while also leading the Americas procurement & logistics team.
