How would the computers of our youth stand-up to the rigors of modern life, from social networking to word processing? That’s what BenJ Edwards of CIO Magazine sought to find out when he fired-up a vintage Commodore 64 with the goal of sending a Tweet.
As you’ll read, Edwards had a bit of a frustrating experience with the C64, although he did manage to accomplish his goal. I still have very fond memories of my childhood Commodore, a C64-Plus. Why was it called Plus? Well, it had a sleeker white design compared to the boxy 64, and also sone internal enhancements. Nothing like the fancy C128 that came out later though.
It was a great gaming machine though, from flight simulators and golf games to the infamous Winter Games, where I killed many joysticks trying to master the bobsled course. They don’t make them like they used to.
