Chrysler, Ford and Honda produced electric cars that actually hit the market back in 1993. The PC at that time was just a pre-teen at 12 years old.
The PC is now a 30-something and the marketplace is trying to author its death. Yes, smartphones and tablets have become very popular and are outselling PCs, but if you ask the PC vendors they believe in a dual-device universe.
Case in point, Lenovo senior vice president David Schmoock, who is in charge of North America and is involved with the Canadian operation, said rumours of the traditional PC’s demise are greatly exaggerated. Schmoock has seen little evidence that tablet adoption is undercutting laptop sales and believes both are complementary in a dual-device world.
And, just like the electric car it did not overtake the gas guzzlers. If you look at the auto sector today hybrids are complementary to the big SUVs on many driveways.
And, Windows 8, according to the latest study will increase PC sales along with server sales.
