Two major Canadian based IT solution providers announced significant acquisitions today.
First Fully Managed entered into an agreement to acquire HIT Business Solutions (HIT), an up-and-coming IT Service Provider in Edmonton and a member of the Tech Select organization. All staff in Vancouver and Edmonton will be retained in addition to several new key positions being announced in both cities.
Chris Day, CEO of Fully Managed, said he is confident this acquisition will create value for not only Fully Managed clients but also his team (35 staffers) and partners. “Clients, the team and partners will be amazed at what we will soon deliver as a combined force.”
Meanwhile incoming president Sharleen Oborowsky said that Fully Managed’s core purpose of creating peace of mind is something which she has been extremely passionate about while building HIT over the past 15 years.
Fully Managed provides IT support and management services and cloud hosting services and has been recognized as one of the leading Canadian managed services providers.
There was also celebration in Raleigh, N.C., last night as Jeff McFarlane, the president and CEO of Xchange Technology Group, the parent company of Top 100 Solution Providers member BlueRange Technology of Oakville, Ont., acquired Hamilton Rentals Ltd., a company that provides IT demo and short-term rental solutions. This acquisition, according to McFarlane, creates one of the world’s largest short-term IT businesses through XTG’s global footprint of 19 facilities in eight countries.
McFarlane said that the addition of Hamilton Rentals will significantly enhance XTG’s value proposition to our partners – both customers and vendors. Our ability to provide solutions at a global level is greatly enhanced. Hamilton, not to be confused with the old Hamilton Computer Sales and Rental which was acquired by GE Capital Canada (now CompuCom), is based in the U.K.
“The addition of Hamilton Rentals instantly positions XTG as the only short-term IT rental company with global reach. This acquisition also adds real expertise in the Unix server market.” McFarlane added.
Martin O’Connor, managing director of Hamilton Rentals said there are a number of cross-selling opportunities and benefits of scale that will have an impact immediately, as well as mid-term expansion for EMEA region and beyond.
