New managed detection and response solutions from eSentire

Ontario’s eSentire Inc. recently announced two new solutions for its managed detection and response (MDR) portfolio.

The MDR provider announced the Malicious Activity Assessment (MMA) and the Rapid Assist offerings, additions that will improve customers’ level of insight into their security, said Chris Braden, vice-president of global channels and alliances for eSentire.

“The old adage that ‘knowledge is power’ rings particularly true to those of us in the security sector who see the threat landscape continuing to intensify,” said Braden in a statement. “Our partners are constantly looking for ways to differentiate their services by improving the level of insight they can deliver to their customers.”

MAA uses full packet capture to expose known and unknown threats in a network while providing weekly and executive summaries of detected threats. When an attack happens, Rapid Assist collects network and endpoint data, deploys containment capabilities and gives response teams a full picture on how to eliminate all traces of the threat.

Research from the Ponemon Institute – and sponsored by IBM Resilient –  says only 52 per cent of organizations rate their ability as high or very high to quickly detect a cyber attack. And even once detected, only 50 per cent rate their ability as high or very high to contain, or respond (54 per cent) to an attack.
