The embattled Peter Galanis is no longer running HP Canada. Galanis will have a new role in the enterprise business somewhere in the Americas region. A source close to the situation told CDN that Galanis is to be replaced by long time HP veteran Lloyd Bryant.
Bryant, the source said, would retain his current title and responsibility as vice-president and general manager of the Printing and Personal Systems Group (PPS), while adding the position of managing director of HP Canada. The managing director title is the defacto president of the subsidiary. Since Paul Tsaparis, the long time president of HP Canada left the subsidiary in 2010, the company no longer uses the title of president.
Bryant has had a stellar career at HP especially running the Imaging and Printing Group in Canada since 2006. Recently Bryant, along Frances Edmonds (HP Canada’s director of environmental programs) were named as members of Canada’s Clean 16 – leaders in the IT sector & part of the Clean 50.
Bryant has is also the chair of both EPSC and EPRA. He also has been a leading channel advocate for environmentally-friendly IT solutions such as the Green4Good program from CDN Top 100 solution provider Compugen.
Long time HP Canada partner Tech Data Canada’s Rick Reid said that he’s known Bryant for 20 years and considers him a friend. “Lloyd is an HP Professional and a very strong advocate of the two tier channel,” Reid said.
With Galanis’ departure Charlie Atkinson was also promoted to vice president of the HP Canada’s enterprise group, which Galanis previously ran. The enterprise group covers servers, storage, cloud solutions, networking and technology services.
It was just a little over a year ago when Bryant became the PPS chief and about 15 months since HP Canada gutted its enterprise group removing 10 long-time executives of the company.
Galanis has led Canadian operations for HP since March of 2010. He replaced the iconic Tsaparis as president. Galanis previously served as the director of global accounts for HP’s Manufacturing and Distribution Industries business in the U.S. central region.
Galanis joined HP in 2006 and has worked for other noted vendors such as EMC Corp., Sun Microsystems Inc. and Xerox Corp.
