Tech Data’s StreamOne platform for cloud and software-as-a-service (SaaS) has arrived in Canada.
As part of a global launch rollout, Tech Data Americas president Joe Quaglia told CDN that StreamOne will be made available wherever the distributor does business. Going forward, these types of rollouts will be part of a North American strategy.
The StreamOne platform offers channel partners cloud services that they can resell to their own customers along with software in an as-a-service model. Through an online solution store solution providers in Canada can now search, compare, quote and order products for independent software vendors and cloud providers. This also includes Platform-as-a-Service and Infrastructure-as-a-Service offerings.
“StreamOne is one of the component VARs can use to transition into this new world and make more money in the cloud. The StreamOne platform is an aggregation of distribution and billing and really it has the whole enablement piece. This will give the channel a new opportunity in training and certification enabling their technical sales team to be more competitive. This can differentiate them in the marketplace and StreamOne is the platform for managing, selling and billing,” Quaglia said.
Tech Data has been offering StreamOne’s Software Licensing Selector in Canada since 2011.
The StreamOne platform helps resellers who are looking for monthly re-occurring revenue streams or white label opportunities. StreamOne will be integrated with the TDCloud training academy.
“We are trying to make it easier for the partners to get access and provisioning for SaaS and the same goes for IaaS,” Quaglia said.
Tech Data, through a partnership with IBM SoftLayer will also integrate APIs inside StreamOne for maintenance, provisioning and billing.
“This is exciting and it will build momentum for SaaS as well as IaaS adoption in Canada. We already have AWS as part of the program and Azure will be part of the program, shortly. This will enable resellers to get into those monthly consumption models they are interested in. Tech Data will have tight integration with the vendors and that is something the partners cannot do by themselves. StreamOne gives us a competitive advantage and we own this IP. That is an important part of our commitment to the cloud,” he added.
