David Robertson is the new person in charge of Avaya Canada. Robertson will carry the title of Managing Director and President of Sales for Avaya Canada. It’s the same title that Rejean Bourgault had when he was named to the post in February of this year.
CDN has learned that Bourgault left Avaya in August to become the new Public Sector country leader at Amazon Web Services Canada.
In Canada, AWS splits the Canadian country leadership. Eric Gales is the country manager for AWS Canada but does not oversee the public-sector business.
Robertson has been working at Avaya Canada for two years as the Canadian operation’s Vice President Enterprise. The University of Calgary graduate also has two decades of experience mostly with Konica Minolta.
He will report directly to Galib Karim, Vice President of Americas International for Avaya.
Karim said that Robertson is a proven leader with decades of experience building successful sales teams and generating results.
Robertson issued a prepared statement saying:
“With a focus on the future, I look forward to assisting Avaya customers, service providers, partners and consultants deliver superior communications experiences while supporting their continued digital transformation. I’m excited for this incredible opportunity and eager to help Canadian businesses and governments improve their customer service, increase productivity, reduce time to service and boost profitability through innovation.”
Under Bourgault Avaya Canada began to broaden its footprint by providing integrated, secure software and services on premise, in the cloud, or as hybrid solutions.
Robertson becomes the fourth Canadian leader for Avaya in the last 18 months.
Walter Andri left Avaya Canada to pursue other professional interests in March of 2016. Jocelyn Larochelle took over as the interim sales leader for Canada until early 2017 when Bourgault was named the new leader.
Robertson’s promotion comes at a time when Avaya exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, although Avaya Canada was never part of that restructuring maneuver.
Also Robertson arrives at the corner office at Avaya Canada about one month after the parent company appointed Jim Chirico the new CEO of the organization. That job officially starts on Oct. 1st. Current CEO Kevin Kennedy plans to retire but will still be a member of the Board of Directors.
