If you are a reseller interested in social responsibility then Ingram Micro (Nasdaq: IM)will give you a helping hand.
While almost ever distributor is launching its cloud program, Ingram Micro showed some real leadership in terms of our planet and business sustainability this week by creating the Smart Steward recycling program.Smart Steward enables resellers to dispose small electronics and printer supplies in an environmentally friendly way with an incremental revenue stream attached. Through a Web portal www.ingrammicro.com/smartsteward resellers can arrange for the recycling of toner and ink cartridges and other computing devices and Ingram Micro will pay you the value in a trade-in payment.
Also on the Smart Steward, resellers can request shipping materials for the safe return of the recyclables and set up accounts for their customers.
Keith Bradley, Ingram senior executive vice president and president, North America, said Ingram is dedicated to helping our business partners excel in a way that is responsible to our communities. Through the Smart Steward program, Ingram provides an efficient recycling program that offers our customers an additional revenue stream to help them increase profitability. They reduce landfill waste and receive payment for their efforts, while Ingram Micro contributes to a greener planet and strengthens our customer relationships.
On top of Smart Steward, Ingram also has its Smart Citizen global corporate social responsibility program. The distributor received ISO 14001 certification for its environmental systems in North America.
StreamOne for Tech Data
Tech Data Corp. (Nasdaq:TECD) unveiled the StreamOne Software License Selector, a new application only available on the company’s Web site techdata.com. The Software License Selector is the first in a series of e-business services the company is building on its new StreamOne software platform.
The intent with StreamOne is to improve how channel partners sell and distribute software by removing complexity.
The StreamOne Software License Selector automates tasks like SKU selection and order qualification for nearly 40 major software vendors-representing more than 99 per cent of the software licenses purchased through Tech Data.
Resellers can use the StreamOne Software License Selector in four steps. The StreamOne Software License Selector guides resellers through the entire software-purchasing process, sifting through thousands of software SKUs and each vendors’ complex licensing rules to identify the right software part number, the most accurate pricing and the correct license type.
The StreamOne Software License Selector reduce cycle time from quote to license, while lowering licensing processing costs. For vendors, it provides the opportunity to increase their channel partner base as more resellers are able to sell software using the Software License Selector.
Stacy Nethercoat, vice president, Software Product Marketing, Tech Data, said many resellers avoid pursuing lucrative, margin-rich software sales because of the complexity of software licensing.
Now, for the first time ever, there is no need for a reseller to be an expert or invest in expensive resources or training to sell software. All they need is the StreamOne Software License Selector.
