CDN has learned from two sources that Linda Fitzgerald is no longer the president of NCR Canada.
One source close to the Canadian subsidiary based in Mississauga, Ont., told CDN that NCR has a new management structure that is aligned to the company’s lines of business globally. NCR Canada believes this new structure better serves clients, according to the source.
NCR’s global lines of business are as follows: hospitality, retail, financial services, and software and services. The company also made a re-location decision that puzzled many. NCR left Dayton, Ohio, its home for more than 125 years, for Duluth, GA.
Fitzgerald was the first female president in NCR Canada history. She was also named as one of CDN’s Top 25 Women of the Channel Ecosystem in Canada. Fitzgerald has worked in the Canadian IT industry for more than 25 years mostly with HP Canada. While at NCR Canada, Fitzgerald was responsible for sales, client services, marketing, and the management of all aspects of NCR Canada’s financial and retail businesses, as well as for building NCR’s newer businesses in the travel and healthcare industries.
The McGill University graduate started at NCR Canada back in January of 2011 replacing the high profile Luc Villenueve who was promoted to NCR Europe, based in Paris. Villenueve is now the president of Red Hat Canada.
Fitzgerald continued Villenueve’s work at increasing channel presence for NCR Canada. Fitzgerald was instrumental in growing the mobility space for NCR Canada through the indirect channel.
The departure of Fitzgerald comes at a time when NCR reported revenue of $1.67 billion, an increase of only two per cent from the fourth quarter of 2012. The fourth-quarter revenue included an unfavorable impact of two per cent as a result of foreign currency translation.
NCR CEO Bill Nuti said that the company is trying to reinvent NCR and transform itself into a software and services led business, with an accelerated path to a higher margin, sustainable growth, and more predictable revenue model – along with a strong cash generation profile.
In addition to NCR Canada and HP Canada, Fitzgerald held senior executive positions at GE Capital IT Solutions, Entourage Technology Solutions, and Compuware Corporation where she was responsible for channels and alliances.
