Ottawa-based high performance notebook vendor Eurocom Corp. is introducing a new channel program and strategy.
In its history, Eurocom has taken a niche approach to the market with its products but going forward the company is committed to educate the reseller channel on new profitable ways in selling hardware as well as pushing them into new vertical markets.
Eurocom founder and president Mark Bialic, told CDN as the industry continues to offer more commodity or consumer-grade computing, Eurocom is going in the opposite direction by offering upgradable systems.
Most of Eurocom’s line up of mobile workstations, mobile servers, ultra-portables and gaming notebooks can be upgraded with newer CPUs, GPUs, operating systems and storage. In some cases, multiple CPUs, GPUs, OSs, and storage bays.
“This gives customers more choices and dealers the ability to make more margins because there is a longer lifespan of the product. They can get more money from upgrades or by configuring the products,” Bialic said.
One of the challenges Bialic is facing with Eurocom’s channel is that they tend to be more driven by end user demands are not as educated in the new revenue opportunities from upgradable notebooks or new vertical markets.
What this new program tries to offer solution providers is education on identifying new vertical markets such as the emerging virtual reality sector. Bialic said that VR is a developing market with a lot of customers creating new VR tools and apps.
Eurocom has a series of products under its Sky brand devoted to the VR market specific to gaming. These Eurocom systems can drive a full VR experience through Oculus Rift or HTC Vive technology.
By offering education and training in Eurocom’s new channel program, Bialic said it will help resellers better engage in the early stages of new markets such as VR.
Other vertical markets Eurocom is interested in are: Engineering, transportation, architectural, Computer-automated design and gaming.
The new program will feature video training on how to upgrade CPUs or GPUs, case studies on new product or new vertical deployment. There will be a comparison chart and Bialic added the company will also do more one-on-one training and education with partners with new products. Eurocom is also working closely with technology partners Intel and NVidia to produce newsletters on future trends that they plan on using as guides to its dealer channel.
Eurocom has more than 75 partners in Canada and approximately 800 worldwide. Bialic said they are looking for more innovative partners to join Eurocom. The company will continue to offer channel partners with special pricing on new business deals and have a demo and loaner programs as well.
