Security vendor Websense, Inc. has appointment Shawn Pearson as its channel chief.

Pearson will hold the title of vice president of worldwide channel sales and be mandated to drive channel leadership and commitment to the partner community. One of Pearson’s first tasks will be to create and implement several channel strategies that can help the company transform from a transactional-based to a value-add operation, while supporting an expanded product line up.

Another priority for Pearson is to build a channel partner ecosystem across multiple verticals.

Pearson said that Websense has a strategic focus on empowering the success of its channel partners. “My channel philosophy and experience is the perfect match for Websense’s vision and success in delivering the most robust security solutions available on the market.”

Pearson has more than 17 years of high tech and security channel experience. Most recently, Pearson served as senior director of Americas inside sales and channels at RSA, the security division of EMC. During his tenure, Pearson successfully united the inside sales strategy with corporate and field objectives thereby enhancing productivity and revenue objectives. Additionally, he implemented procedures that successfully transitioned RSA’s channel from transaction-centric to more of a value-add operation.
