It was well over a year in the making and the not the best kept secret, but officially Synnex Canada today became a Dell distribution partner.
Dell entered into significant North American distribution deals with Synnex rivals Ingram Micro and Tech Data in the summer of 2014. Initially Synnex was signed by Dell for U.S. distribution, but not Canadian.
As of Nov. of 2014 Synnex Canada president Mitchell Martin told CDN at the time that he would monitoring the situation closely with the other distributors, but there were no firm plans to include Dell in Canada.
Cheryl Cook, Dell Channel Chief, meanwhile told CDN earlier this year that she would not rule out a partnership with Dell and Synnex in Canada and was working towards making it happen.
Martin today released at statement saying he was excited to bring Dell’s exceptional solutions to the Synnex Canada ecosystem of solution providers. He added that customers have asked for Dell solutions.
Synnex will now offer Dell’s client, enterprise, print and imaging offerings for the Canadian SMB market and they will be integrated into the distributor’s solution bundles and offerings across all “Solv” practices and technology areas. This will include servers, storage, networking, converged infrastructure, software, and client products.
Dell Canada president Kevin Peesker also released a statement: “Synnex quickly proved its prowess bringing Dell to the U.S. market, which is one of many reasons why Synnex Canada was selected to help Dell acquire new solution providers in Canada that aren’t already working with Dell today.”
